Episode 8

Hope is the trust in the fairness and fulfillment of our desires. Hope is the fuel that drives us to go out and get the thing we desire. But the moment we pin our hope on others, it transpires into expectation, a furtive demand. If not met, it stifles and chokes all our energy channels and perches as resentment.

Can we persuade ourselves to not give in to our inherent tendencies? Can we draw the line between wish and want?

Once again you have convincingly brought home the point that we’re capable of transforming ourselves by understanding the true nature of our own drives and impulses. Your podcasts are a fine blend of clear thinking and sweet persuasion. One feels truly ‘enlightened’ after each episode. Expectations in every relationship directly influence our happiness. There’s an urgent need to understand them. It’s indeed an important step in our journey of self-exploration. Thanks once again for your affectionate mentoring!

I appreciated your lecture and felt as if you were speaking directly to me🙏The problem of expectations occurs when we expect something to happen without good reasons for that expectation. If I believe that my expectations alone will bring me what I want, I am using magical thinking and setting myself up for disappointment.

    1. Devinder kaur says:

They are Givers in true sense.

      Salute to you

      So the Gist is

If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed…

You have rightly explained how to be happy in life by following some important principles. The secret of happiness is to give and give unconditional love like Nature and pets. One should not give the key to one’s happiness to others. One gets immense

Another fine episode full of worldly wisdom. Ma’am, you r raising your own bar with every episode. Choice of words is superb, so are phrases, one liners and quotes from poems & ghazals which have been interspersed beautifully in the narrative. Giving, without expecting anything in return, is like Mother Nature who gives and gives and then forgives and the man gets and gets and then forgets. Looking forward to next episode.
    Warm regards.
