Episode 18

Mood is the power we have!!

MOODS

Our emotions have vibrational voltage. Moods can hit us like a tsunami or feel like rustling leaves on a windy day. They move us as per their type and tenor. Anger rushes through us as an intense current, anxiety sends tremors and quivers, joy causes ripples of relief. The key is the amount of power we assign to our moods.

Listen to today’s episode and learn how to effectively rein and tune in with our moods on a more profound level.

  11. Sachin Thukral says:

    Respected Mam,
    Greetings of the day.
To begin, once again, thank you so much for this elaborative episode on yet another important aspect of our personality that impacts our energy levels and those around us, and that is ‘mood.’

‘Mood’ is such a commonplace word that even a six-year-old kid would say that

So, it becomes absolutely imperative for us to understand this term in more depth and your podcast message has done great justice to explaining this term and laying bare its connotations.

I am diverting here mam, but allow me to appreciate your choice of words and phrases…it’s simply inexplicable and incredible how you come with such great references. It certainly highlights the depth you have, the love for literature, in English, Hindi, Urdu, and also Punjabi (at times). It’s amazing how well you understand your passion and how conscientiously you are preserving this knowledge.

Even after so many years of service in administration your poet has lived. And, your podcast messages allude to what Wordsworth says in his Preface to the Lyrical Ballads,
“Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings, it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility”
Your podcast messages are such an example of well-thought of emotions that you must have recollected in great contemplation.
And now, you are doing a great service by sharing your great contemplations with us! It’s your love for humanity that propels you to make the most of your energy; you are certainly channelizing your energies in an incredible manner.

Now, coming to this podcast. Your colloquial tone is at once amusing and enthralling

…these are some of the examples of how you engage the audience mesmerizingly.

Apart from this, time and again, you have highlighted the importance of being humane. In this chaotic world there are very few people who think of others, but then there are those godsends who couldn’t help behave compassionately towards others, as you said,

And, these lines are so mesmerizing once again and meaningful too!

    ” (Wow! – amazing…..wah subhanallah! wah!)

And, you also highlighted the helpless of people who are overpowered by emotions

And, moving towards the solutions (to control the mood swings), as per what I perceived, your messages allude to two things:

    1. We ought to realize that we are inconsequential if we consider the larger picture/ the larger scheme of things of nature…as sun, wind, rain, etc. are working tirelessly and that too in a control way; likewise, we too need to control our emotions and mood and not let those control us or our energy.

    2. You highlighted the concept of love- the eternal love- as you said,

    And, also,

This also reminds me of one of your blogs in which you talked about the
    Ho’oponopono – The Hawaiian Prayer

Here, you talked about ‘seeking forgiveness’ (which is a difference concept than ‘pardoning’ someone, as what we are generally taught to do)
    “I am sorry.
    Please forgive me.
    Thank you.
    I love you/pray for you/bless you.”

In fact, only these solutions can make us survive in this cut-throat era.

But, one question is still there mam, we can’t live in vacuum, and as you said we are impacted by emotions/ moods, and we don’t have any right to make others get affected by it. But sometimes it becomes hard to either see the coming of the tempest, or tame it so as to not let others get impacted by it.

So, if you could share some practical techniques to handle mood swings that would be great.

Sure, no one loves to talk to or confide in a person who is too temperamental.

Once again, thanks a lot. I keep on repeating the same thing, and I would once again say this, still, words get slighted when I want to express how greatly impactful and meaningful your messages are!
Hope you reach out to a greater audience….may be try video messages, as your body language, facial expressions, gestures may have even more impact.
    Thanks once again
May God give you strength, peace, happiness and warmth in the relationships.
    My deepest regards,
    Sachin

    1. Sumedha says:

Thanks Sachin, for so thought provoking explanation and such apontaneoua overflow of your powerful feelings. Regards

      1. Sachin Thukral says:

        Thanks mam

  12. Monika (Noor) says:

Bahut khoob Maam bahut hi common word MOOD jo lagbhag sabhi ke pehlu main gardish kerta hai.
Handling aa jaye to kamaal hai.
    Very nice Maam
    Thanks for sharing

    1. Sumedha says:

Thanks Monikaji, aap bahut khoob likhti hain. Regards

  13. Madhu Bala says:

Thanks again for explaining the most common word ‘Mood’ so elaborately giving beautiful examples. Mood swings are an integral part of every one of us. And bad moods deplete our energy and spoil the ambience around us. So we should learn from Nature to control it.

Jee pranam, yes nature has so much to teach us but alas! We have almost stopped turning to it..regards

You have always excelled at presenting your thoughts on varied topics and have achieved the same with “mood” too.I believe emotions and mood swings go hand in hand. If we have a high emotional quotient it becomes easy for us to be aware of our emotions , to understand them and manage them effectively and efficiently! Alas EQ is something that is not given much importance as is given to IQ . It is imperative to develop Emotional intelligence to have professional and personal accomplishments in life. EQ needs to be inculcated in the kids right from the beginning. Very often young parents give in to the the tantrums (which is nothing but a fierce representation of different moods of their kids) to avoid unpleasant situations. This problem has to be tackled at grass root level and kids be made aware of the various emotions that they experience. They should be able to name every emotion they feel and learn to manage it before an emotion changes to a terrible mood swing !!!
It is never too late to start learning. We adults also need to learn certain skills , and manage our emotions. The best way is to Channelise our energies towards something productive( like gardening, reading, cooking or anything that pleases out senses) rather than wasting it on silly arguments, baseless allegations, haughty demeanor, egoistic nature ( all extentions of our basic mood). We should understand that mood is nothing but our state of mind and instead of assigning endless power to our mind to feed unproductive thoughts and behaviours leading to mood swings we can always TAME our mind !!!

It’all in mind

    Voltaire
    *The most courageous
decision you can make each day is to be in good mood*

You will feel what you are thinking, decision is your to make the mood good or make the mood bad

God bless you❤️🙏

    Respected ma’am,
Mood always depends on a person . The individuals inner attitude towards something brings out the mood , a good mood , a bad mood it’s all inside one’s individual . So true mam. I think mood drives us. But we should learn to control our mood swings for better acceptance in society. Your talks prompt us to introspect and improve. Thanks and regards.

  21. So true.. moods drive us which impact our daily routine. It may make our life vibrant adding flavours of happiness. Mood is not static and is dynamic which changes with weather, kind of people sitting around us & so many results in our everyday life. Of course good mood helps us to make better decision and on the other hand we should hold ourself and should decide carefully when our moods is not as good.
